As students of grade 5, we wanted our viewers to know more about protecting monuments through interviews. We formed two groups: Group 1 consisted of Arnav and Aabheer, and Group 2 consisted of Gunjan and Nirvair. Both the groups visited and covered two different monuments, The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sanghralay and The Gateway of India respectively, to have a better understanding of monument protection.
These are pictures of the group that visited the Prince of Wales museum, now called the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sanghralay. You can see the beautiful sculpture of Gautam Buddha behind us in the second picture. Here, we found out that there were so many safety measures taken, right from the security and scanning at the entrance to structural integrity (which means preserving the main base of the monument) to preventing any theft. We were very fortunate to meet and interview the Curator of the museum during our visit. She provided us with great insight on all steps taken to preserve and maintain the monument.
We interviewed Mrs. Vaidehi Savnal, Curator, Education and Public Programmes at CSMVS, and she was kind enough to share some valuable information with us.
Our second group visited the famous, historical Gateway of India. Visitors were present in large numbers at the entrance. However, the security and managers handled it extremely well, avoiding any chaos or stampede. You can see it in the first picture. There are more pictures as well! Gunjan and Nirvair took a couple of interviews of the crowd manager and the guards there.
The crowd manager answered the following questions:
